Welcome to College of Life Sciences
Welcome Message

Established in 1951, the College of Life Sciences currently has 73 faculty members, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Entomologist Xiangchu Yin and Arachnologist Daxiang Song), 4 professors who are receiving the State Special Allowance from China State Council (Xiangchu Yin, Daxiang Song, Guodong Ren, and Mingsheng Zhu), and 38 professors and associate professors. Professor Guodong Ren was awarded the Young Scholar with Outstanding Contributions in China and was selected as the China National Distinguished Scientists. The college now has 8 Ph.D. advisors and more than 30 M.S. advisors. We also invited more than 30 worldwide famous biologists to serve as adjunct professors. Forty-four of our faculty members have a Ph.D. degree.

MAJORS

The College offers 5 undergraduate programs in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, and Marine Biology, 12 M.S. programs in Biology, 1 M.S. program in Medicine (Microbiology and Biochemical Medicine), and 2 M.S. programs in Agriculture (IPM and Aquatic Farming). In addition, we also offer a Ph.D. program in Zoology and a postdoctoral program in Biology. The College of Life Sciences now has 2 Distinguished Programs in Zoology and Bioengineering established by Hebei Province, 3 Hebei Province Distinguished Labs and Research Centers (Hebei Bioengineering Technology Research Center, Hebei Invertebrate Zoology Research Lab in Systematics and Applied Biology, and Hebei Microbiology Diversity and Application Lab), and 4 research institutes established by Hebei University (Bioengineering, Aquatic Biology, Zoology, and Microbiology). The College of Life Sciences at Hebei University is one of the most important researches and teaching institute supported by Hebei Province, with 800 undergraduate and 300 graduate students enrolled at this moment.

RESEARCH FACILITY

The college owns 7000 square meters lab space and nearly RMB30,000,000 investment in research equipment and devices, such as Protein Microarray Spotting System, TEM, Protein Analyzer, Gene Gun, and Computer Controlled Fermentation Equipment, etc. Our Natural History Museum has a collection of more than 760,000 specimens, including more than 1000 type specimens in insect, spiders, and other animals.
